Hi, my name is jeffy and it’s been a long time since my last post.
The boy turned 6 last week and we had a fun time celebrating his birthday. We had a party here at the house with 14 of his little friends (photo after the jump) (Continue reading…)

Saw this on the internet and I didn’t know whether to be offended or chagrined. This image is what many in USAmerica think of Jesus and RightWing Christianity. As someone who has been and still struggles with being critical of the USAmerican church, it hits too close to home on a lot of points.
Look closely and you can come to your own conclusions.

Top Ten (1-5) - Top Ten (6-10)
Had a hard time just limiting the list to 10. Various albums keep popping up from different times in my life, so I had to add some more. Some of these are significant for a song or two, some for the whole album.
Foreigner - 4

This album came out my Junior year of high school. One of my “oh god, if I could just ESCAPE” times. The album was decent, but the song “Juke Box Hero” was it for me. I was that boy, (Continue reading…)
Jeremy sent me another pic of his bike. He’s almost finished putting it together. He’s also scored a couple more bikes to work on. Charla is as thrilled as Sarah is about the proliferation of bikes that is happening in both of our garages.
Jeremy (my little bro) just got his frame back from the body guy that did the fab work and paint for him. The guy did AWESOME. (Continue reading…)
So once again I am ripping off an idea from Andrew (seems to be a lack of originalness on my part…but to his credit, he’s been writing about a lot of cool stuff lately) This one is about books. I like to read alot, and I consider myself somewhat decently read, and I like writing myself. I don’t really consider myself a writer, because one has to do it frequently and with purpose to be more than above average, and I only did that while attending Barclay. Plus, I know good writers, and I am WAY too tangential to consdier myself a good writer. I did learn while with Barclay, that I actually write fairly well, (that is, when I do it frequently and with purpose). Hopefully, this blog will spur me on to continue writing…and reading alot again. Since graduation, I have been a little lax in purposeful reading and I plan on changing that.
So, here we go…
One book that changed my life: Tie - Mustard Seed Vs. McWorld by Tom Sine and Desiring God by John Piper. Mustard Seed changed the way I looked (Continue reading…)
So, I’m reading Andrew’s top 100 and alot of his readers Top Ten’s and I’m thinking…”okay Pink Floyd is only good when your stoned, and since I don’t smoke pot…BORING,” and I like alot of other peoples albums on their list because they are bands that I like and junk. Some I like for the merit of the music, but some I liked, ’cause ya know, people who are cool and INTO music are supposed to like them. Because let’s face it, I am NOT cool, was never cool, and am now too old to be cool
So, I decided my 6-10 are going to be albums that really did impact me. And they are all from my 20’s when I was (Elivs singing) “in the ghetto”. But all of these artists rose out of that scene, and honestly, rose above that scene with their music.
Soldiers Under Command - Stryper

Thanks again to Andrew Careaga, I’m posting the Top Ten Life-Changing albums for me.
I think the reason I love music so much is because of my Dad’s record collection when I was little. He had a little of everything. He had the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Ryder, the Bob Crewe Generation, Sam the Sham and the Pharoh’s, James Brown, Beach Boys, Cream, Sly and the Family Stone, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Jose Feliciano, Rare Earth and many, many 45’s that my brother and I listened to all the time. I feel lucky to have been exposed to the music we were at the time. Radio played everybody back then, and his record collection showed it.
A little disclaimer: from 1986 till about 2000 I was stuck in the ghetto we know as CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). It isn’t that I am embarrassed by the music that I was listening to then, because that’s what I was listening to at the time. There are many criticisms of CCM, and many of them are valid (and I won’t get caught up in a rant at this time), but what I was listening to had a great impact at certain times of my life. With all that out of the way, here is my top ten. Feel free to add yours in the coments if you would like.
1. To You With Love, Donny - Donny Osmond

Found this through this design site.
Another one of those, “damn why didn’t I think of that!” inventions, the Firefly is a water bottle that doubles as a lantern. The lid is uniquely designed to house a very small LED light. When you turn it on, the light refracts in the water casting a bright glow. You can even adjust how much light you need; soft for a night light or bright to help you navigate your way thru dark areas.
For all you outdoorsy people out there, it’s only $21.95
Dang! How frickin’ cool is that!
