Saw this on the internet and I didn’t know whether to be offended or chagrined. This image is what many in USAmerica think of Jesus and RightWing Christianity. As someone who has been and still struggles with being critical of the USAmerican church, it hits too close to home on a lot of points.
Look closely and you can come to your own conclusions.

Well, as a piece of art, this is definitely provoking. Looking closely - there is no USA insignia on him. Jesus was not all love and hugs in the Bible….remember the moneychangers, his criticism of the pharisees, stuff like that. So, the picture seems to me to be a little extreme with the bazooka, but then art can be extreme to convey a point. If it is meant to say Jesus endorses USA policy, well, that is probably going too far.
But I see this as the judgement aspect of Jesus’ being….it does not depict His grace, love, and forgiveness. As a lone piece of art, this is sad because there is more to God/Jesus than just judgement. But that is just my opinion.

I have some thoughts I will share soon.
What an interesting image. I’m not sure if it represents the views of most proclaimed Christians in the USA, but I’m sure many of the church’s critics would say it represents the Jesus of the so-called “Christian right” and of our president.

In your post, you said this what many in USAmerica think of Jesus. I think it is more likely that people around the world feel this way to toward Christians not necessarily Jesus.
I think purely as art…this is provocative…and as a single piece, sad because it only shows one aspect of God’s character.
